ACROSS THE DIVIDE: JUST IN TIME

Celebrating 20 Years of Artistic Dialogue, exhibited at Studio Channel Islands Art Center, Camarillo, California, from November 30th to December 16th, 2023.

In a celebration of the 20th year of founding the Forum Across the Divide, the city Camarillo witnessed the creative works in non-traditional media by artist members of The Association of Chinese Artists in American Academia at studio Channel Islands Art Center.

The event brought together a diverse art styles artists who work in digital and time-based media. Featuring 14 artists, Xu Bing, Xiaohong Zhang, Xia Gao, Xuhong Shang, Rebecca Xu, Sean Hongsheng Zhai, Daniel Traub. The exhibition provided an immersive experience with multi perspectives for visitors.

The title, “Across the Divide: Just in Time,” encapsulates the timeliness and relevance of this exhibition, commemorating 20 years of artistic dialogue. It symbolizes a recognition of the evolving narratives within the Chinese in America and emphasizes the importance of cultural exchange. This exhibition goes beyond national boundaries, delving into the ways works of art and artists have interacted across China and their experiences in the United States. Through this exploration, we aim to construct a comprehensive narrative that reflects the multifaceted nature of Chinese art within the global context.

Professor Chi Xun introduced a brief history of The forum of Across the Divide at event. He also shared his work concept and creative process.
Professor Yu Ji and Professor Joe Ren shared their collaboration work that transfer the drawing to digital animation and added a different dimension and meanings to the artwork.
